This makes a simple and tasty dessert or can be used as a side dish for a fancy breakfast or brunch.
3 medium apples
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
1/8 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon salt
Core the apples and slice into 1/2 thick rings. Melt the butter in a large skillet and stir in the brown sugar, spices, and salt. Saute the apple rings in mixture over low heat, turning occasionally until the apples are tender.
