Southern Eats

      Chocolate Chip Cookies      


1 cup butter
1 cup regular sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
2 1/2 cups plain flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon hot water
1 cup chopped nuts (I use pecans)
12 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips

Cream butter and sugars. Add eggs and beat well. Add hot water and vanilla. Sift in flour, salt, and soda until mixed well. Stir in nuts and chips. Drop by spoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet and bake 10-15 minutes at 375 degrees. Cookies will harden as they cool.
